Diction’s clients: The University of Copenhagen
Translation of material for the University of Copenhagen
Who
The University of Copenhagen is one of the oldest universities in Denmark and among the oldest universities in Northern Europe. With approximately 40,000 students and 9,000 staff, the University of Copenhagen is also one of Northern Europe’s largest research and educational institutions. The University is ranked as the 6th best in Europe, according to the Leiden Ranking 2016 list.
The challenge
The University of Copenhagen consists of many different faculties which occupy themselves with anything from agriculture to economics. Based on this wide spectrum of subject areas, the University continually finds itself requiring help in translating subject-specific material. For example, the Danish National Research Foundation’s Centre of Excellence for International Courts - which is a part of the Faculty of Law – needed their internal and external material translated into English. To get their texts translated correctly, they contacted Diction.
The solution
Diction helps several educational institutions with translations to and from a wide range of languages. In this case, Diction contacted their best translators with a background in law. A good understanding of legal terminology in both the source and target language is a prerequisite for a good translation of legal texts. The translators ensured that the University of Copenhagen received a good translation with correct terminology and a good writing style.
